History
The Tipton Christian Academy has offered excellence in Christian education since 1952. TCA was founded by Pastor Ken Carroll as a ministry of the Tipton Bible Church. TCA remains one of the oldest Christian schools in the state of Iowa.
Purpose
TCA offers a Christ-centered education for students in kindergarten-12th grade. The TCA staff strives to point our students to salvation in Christ alone, and to prepare them to serve Christ in today’s society, using the talents and abilities He has given them.
Academics
The qualified staff at TCA has a combined experience of over 40 years in Christian Education. They are able to accurately assess a student’s academic progress and to design a program suited to his/her specific needs. TCA primarily uses the Accelerated Christian Education curriculum, which teaches students to set and achieve their own goals. (Find out more about ACE at www.aceministries.com.) In addition to ACE, the staff chooses materials from a wide range of curricula, depending on the needs and strengths of each student.
Atmosphere
The trained staff at TCA maintain quiet, well-ordered classrooms, creating an atmosphere that encourages learning. The staff are not only committed to promoting academic excellence, but they truly care about each student. They seek to strengthen and encourage each child to develop a personal relationship with the Lord.
Service
Learning is only one part of Christian education. The students at TCA are provided with opportunities to put their faith into practice. In community service, students help decorate veterans’ graves with flags in preparation for Memorial Day and Independence Day. The TCA choir ministers in local nursing homes with songs and Scripture recitations. Students are prepared not only to one day serve the Lord, but to be engaged in Christian service right now!
Spiritual Emphasis
At TCA, each day begins with the Pledge of Allegiance to the United States Flag, the Bible, and the Christian Flag. Our opening exercises also include prayer, a sacred song, recitation of a Bible passage, and a devotional challenge from God’s Word. We also have a chapel service one day a week. After the noon recess, the students are given a brief quiet time so that they can learn to develop their own personal devotions.
Music
TCA students have the opportunity to develop their musical talents for the Lord by participating in choir, handbell choir, and by singing in the annual school concert.
Activities
TCA students look forward to a number of exciting activities throughout the school year, such as: Spirit Week, Field Trips, Pizza Parties, Recreational Activities, the Weekly Prize Box, Community Service, and more.
Drama
Each year TCA students in grades 6th – 12th put on a dramatic production. The students not only receive an opportunity to perform on stage, but they are also able to participate in stage design, lighting, stage set-up, make-up, costumes, and much more.
Competition
TCA students in 7th – 12th grades annually participate in the American Association of Christian Schools Fine Arts Competition. The competition is a great opportunity for the students to meet other Christian young people and to develop their unique abilities.
Testimonies
“TBCS (now TCA) helped me see God’s Word as the final answer to every problem, and encouraged me to search God’s Word for answers and not to depend just on what people say. Also, the family atmosphere at TBCS helped me develop my talents with encouragement and support..”
~ Chaya Fox Berrey, class of 1999
